Hey friends,
I am on my way back to Africa in October to help the children of Watoto! My church Oasis Christian Center is partnering with Watoto in the building of two classrooms for the boys and girls of the Watoto villages. We are so excited about the possibilities this partnership presents for the next generation of Africa.
In order to make this trip possible, I must raise $ 3,500 by September 3rd 2009. I know that not all of you will be able to give financially right now, so I am asking you to reach out to your community and give them an opportunity to give. The last trip in December of 2008, Christmas in Watoto, was such a blessing to the mothers and children. Some of the mothers shared that they had never eaten a meal they had not prepared themselves.
Some of the children had never experienced Christmas before or been given new gifts. It was so exciting to watch the children tear open gifts! Beyond that, we were able to let these children who have come from AIDS –ridden, poverty stricken villages know they matter.
In October, we hope to further express the value and worth we want to place on the people and local community. These building projects are extremely important, because they allow for appropriate schooling as well as the appropriate student per teacher ratios. Educating these kids so that they can be the future leaders of Uganda, offers long term solutions to a global problem, which stretches much further than just giving them a meal to eat
Educating these young boys and girls, allows them an opportunity to live out the potential that exists on the inside of them; in essence, they will be able to fulfill their dreams. As someone said to me, many people will look back 20 years from now and will not remember every seed they have sown. But how awesome will it be to know that your contribution was a part of providing solutions to social justice issues that exist on the other side of the planet.
